The fashion world is in mourning after the passing of Richard Nicoll, according to Vogue magazine. The famous English fashion designer was only 39 years old when he died of a heart attack on October 21st. Nicoll had made quite an impact with his modernist classic work.
Born in London and raised in Australia, Nicoll graduated with an MA in Womenswear from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. He debuted his collections in 2006 on the London Fashion Week and has since been showcasing his work there. Nicoll was regarded as a highly talented designer, and was awarded three prizes from the Association Nationale poor le Developpement des Arts de la Mode (ANDAM). He was also awarded the title of “Best Young Designer” at the Elle Style Awards in 2009. He was a BFC Vogue Fashion Fund finalist twice.
Famous celebrities who have worn Nicoll’s designs include Emma Stone, Keira Knightley, Kylie Minogue, Julianne Moore, Kate Bosworth, Sienna Miller, Diane Kruger, Florence Welch, and more. Nicoll has collaborated with Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Jack Wills and Cerruti. Nicoll’s creativity allowed him work on a number of impressive projects throughout his career.
Nicoll’s family made a statement shortly after his death. “Richard was one of the quiet stars of fashion. He was a true gentleman, a wonderful friend and a much loved son… We will miss his handsome face, his sense of humour and his love.”
