THIS INEXPENSIVE TRAVEL GADGET CAN SAVE YOUR LIFE AND THE LIVES OF THOSE YOU LOVE

Last year around this time, we wrote about the importance of traveling with a portable carbon monoxide detector after three people tragically died in an upscale Bahamas hotel. Unfortunately, a carbon monoxide incident has occurred again, this time at a London hotel. RELATED: 12 Things in Travel You Need to Know Today

According to Metro News: “A number of hotel guests including children were rushed to hospital after a carbon monoxide leak in London this morning. Paramedics and fire services rushed to the scene in Tavistock Place, near Russell Square, at about 7am after reports of a ‘chemical incident.’ 20 people were treated at the scene before six adults and two children were taken to hospital.”

Strangely enough, about three weeks earlier, a reader, Fred D., sent me an email saying: “On carbon monoxide/smoke detectors - I note that Europe does not seem to have the concerns we have about the necessity of these devices in the U.S. So, I make sure to bring my own. Another thing to notice in European hotels (at least from my experience) is that peek holes in the room door so you can see who is knocking - not customary like here in U.S. hotels."

I also received this message from a reader Randy L. on April 9: “Johnny, I am looking for a Carbon Monoxide sensor that is small and can be used while traveling.  Have any ideas?”

I invested in a portable carbon monoxide detector for when I travel due to the increasing number of incidents involving carbon monoxide leaks and I’m glad I did. It gives me and my family peace of mind and you can’t be too careful, not just in hotels but especially in vacation rentals. A portable carbon monoxide detector is small, lightweight, inexpensive and can save your life and the lives of those you love.
